Gabriel derego
Dancer

Gabriel DeRego, a native of Hawai´i, started officially training in dance just prior to college. The following years took him from the Univ. of Hawai'i to graduating with a BFA in Dance Performance from Rutgers, NJ; which included dancing abroad in Jerusalem, Israel. Through all, Mr. DeRego studied a diverse range of styles and disciplines in addition to choreography, pedagogy, and movement academia.

In 2018, he took a hiatus from dance for other pursuits. The beginning of 2022 found Mr. DeRego, unplanned, back in the studio. He was blessed to be picked up by a Graham and Hawkins based company in Virginia for their 2022-23 season. He is now freelancing in the New York Tri-State Area. Some recent work has been the Vineyard Arts Project with Claire Kretzschmar, Connecticut Ballet’s winter season, and Ballet Hartford’s The Planets.

As a friend and relative of many service members, from an Army aircraft mechanic in WWII to a decorated Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer; from a Naval Nurse and submarine Officer to wizzo’s and physicists, DeRego is honored to join the deeply meaningful work of Exit12.
